The products of our most creative line are handmade by combining mercerized Pima cotton fabrics that have been woven on waist looms with bovine leather. Each piece is unique, and every collection is completely different from the one before.
Urban life is so fast and crowded by information that sometimes we feel we short-circuit (corto circuito in Spanish). The textile design of this collection was inspired by this feeling, mixing many colours, shapes, stripe widths and textures – almost leaving no blank space. Our life is made of all the experiences we have and, even though they may sometimes feel overwhelming, the result can be very beautiful.
We were inspired by technology to create pieces made of vibrant colours that remind us of TVs, our phone screens and the endless stimulus we find within them. We seek to generate movement through optical illusion in our textile design, as well as the eclectic combination of fabric designs and the leather colours.
BLOQUES – 2019
We wanted to combine the natural design of bovine fur with textiles that play with blocks of colour, where you find small dots, textures and colour degradés.
VERDE – 2018
In a trip we discovered Rio de Janeiro’s botanical garden, a magical place with an endless array of multicoloured flowers, leaves and trunks. This was our collection’s inspiration: the colours and designs of orchids, palms, and striped tropical leaves. Nature as a muse.
MOTAS & RAYAS – 2017
We decided to come back to bovine fur, but this time exploring contrast: both in the furs’ colouring with marked spots, as well as in the textiles where the designs used clean and vibrant colours. It was a visual exploration of textures, where we were looking for a fun and dynamic conversation between colour (neutral and bright), spots, and simple striped patterning.
GEOMETRY – 2016
An art exhibit from 2015 in the Museo de Arte de Lima called “The other side: geometric painting in Peru (1947 – 1958)” was our inspiration. Our colouring, as well as the textures and the rhythm of the stripes, came from the paintings of Benjamin Moncloa, Jorge Piqueras, Emilio Rodríguez Larraín, Aníbal Santiváñez and Fernando de Szyszlo. It was a wonderful design exercise, a way of not only creating beautiful objects, but also of honouring our excellent artists.
AL NATURAL – 2015
In this occasion we set aside bright colours in order to work with neutrals. We were inspired by the variety and tones of natural Argentinian bovine fur, so we tried to imitate them in our textile design through colours and textures. When we joined textile and fur, a new and unexpected design appeared in each handbag, surprising us every time.
FINLAND – 2014
Being great admirers of Finnish design, we were inspired by its simplicity, clean colours and scale play, to create this geometric collection that aspired to be minimalist and fun at the same time. It is fascinating to see how we can create dynamic movement with very few shapes and colours.
CAMBIAMOS – 2013
“If you change the way you see things, the things you see, change.” – Wayne Dyer
Incpired by recycling, in this collection we tried something completely different: we combined our handmade textiles from Cajamarca with scraps of old fabrics, giving them a new life and transforming them into unique pieces with history.
BUTTONS – 2011
In the final sale of a small dressmaking business that was closing, we bought all of the buttons they had and decided to incorporate them in our handbags for this collection. The textile design was made out of our own remainders of yarn stock at the time, playing with different rythms and textures that would become the base on which to place the buttons. It was a fun and very organic design process.
PLAY – 2011
The geometry of the licllas, a Peruvian textile used by women in the southern part of the country as part of their traditional attire, was our inspiration. We created this collection by playing with shapes and colours to recall Peruvian Andean design through clean cut figures, looking for a way to evoke tradition from a new and modern point of view.
